

A plethora of the Sultanate of Oman’s investment opportunities was showcased at the Investors Meet held at Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) headquarters recently, bringing together prominent business leaders, investors, entrepreneurs, golden visa holders, and members of the expatriate business community to explore Oman's evolving investment landscape and strengthen economic collaboration.
Organised by the Foreign Investment Committee of the OCCI, in association with the Indian Social Club - Malabar Wing, the programme featured keynote addresses, expert presentations, a panel discussion, and networking sessions aimed at promoting the Sultanate as a preferred destination for global investment.
Speaking to the Observer, Dr Yousuf Hamed al Balushi, a leading Omani economist, said that the country still has abundant potential which is not explored by local or foreign investors and they are spread over different areas.
“These abundant potential of the Sultanate is spread over tourism, manufacturing, logistics and transport, mining, and agriculture and fisheries and the opportunities are numerous. They still are high-yielding segments and the Sultanate has made it easier for a foreign investor to venture into these areas,” said Dr Al Balushi.
In his presentation titled ‘Oman's New Growth Era,’ he further explored Oman's transformation under Vision 2040, emphasising the country's transition towards a diversified, private sector-led economy.
“The CEPA entered into by the Sultanate and India is capable of unlocking new trade and investment opportunities and encourage investors to contribute to innovation, localisation, and sustainable economic growth,” Dr Al Balushi, who is also the founder and Managing Director of Smart Investment Gateway, said discussing the strategic importance of CEPA.
Addressing the gathering as the Guest of Honour, Prashant Pise, Ambassador of India to the Sultanate of Oman, emphasized the transformative potential of the India–Oman Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in enhancing bilateral trade, investment, and business cooperation. He encouraged investors to explore opportunities across logistics, manufacturing, food processing, digital economy, artificial intelligence, mining, innovation, and cybersecurity.
Delivering the keynote address, Abdul Latheef Moiden Kunji, OCCI Member of the Board of Directorsand Chairman of the Foreign Investment Committee, emphasized the vital role of international investors in contributing to Oman's economic diversification and reaffirmed the Committee's commitment to creating a collaborative platform that connects investors with opportunities, facilitates dialogue with key stakeholders, and promotes a conducive business environment.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Noushad Kakkeri, Convener of the Malabar Wing, followed by Dr Davis Kallukaran, Deputy Chairman of the Committee, who detailed about the formation of Foreign Investment Committee, its objectives, and growing role in representing and engaging the expatriate business community.
Further, Dr Thomas Alexander, Member of the Foreign Investment Committee and founder of Al Adrak Trading & Contracting Co. LLC showcased Oman's remarkable progress across multiple sectors and highlighted the Sultanate's investor-friendly policies, political and economic stability, strategic location, and world-class infrastructure.
Siddique Hassan, Co-Convener of the Malabar Wing, reaffirming the shared commitment of OCCI and its partners to fostering a dynamic investment environment, strengthening international partnerships, and positioning the Sultanate of Oman as a preferred global investment destination.
To take the initiatives to the next level, an Investors Conference is scheduled for September 9 in Muscat, which will showcase investment opportunities across more than 60 industries.
