Al Amerat lift Junior Hockey5s League title

MUSCAT: Al Amerat were crowned champions of the 2026 Junior Hockey5s League after defeating Qurayat ‘A’ 3-1 in the final at the Hockey Oman Stadium in Al Amerat.


The tournament, organised by the Oman Hockey Association (OHA) from July 31 to August 1, brought together 80 young players representing eight teams and produced an impressive total of 135 goals.


The closing ceremony was held under the auspices of Khalid bin Khamis al Jaradi, Director of the Wadi Al Maawil Municipality Department, in the presence of officials, representatives of the participating clubs and members of the hockey community.


The eight teams were divided into two groups. Group One comprised Al Amerat, Qurayat ‘B’, Oman Club and Al Bashayer, while Group Two featured Al Seeb, Qurayat ‘A’, Fanja and Nizwa.


Al Amerat delivered a dominant performance throughout the competition. They opened their campaign with a convincing 12-0 victory over Oman Club before defeating Al Bashayer 8-0. They completed the group stage with a 4-0 win over Qurayat ‘B’ to finish top of Group One and secure their place in the final.

Qurayat ‘A’ emerged as the leading team in Group Two following strong victories over Al Seeb and Nizwa. They defeated Al Seeb 8-3 before recording a 9-1 win over Nizwa to book a meeting with Al Amerat in the title decider.


The final witnessed a competitive display from both sides, but Al Amerat maintained their composure and converted their chances to register a 3-1 victory, securing the championship title, while Qurayat ‘A’ finished as runners-up.


Other results on the opening day saw Qurayat ‘B’ defeat Al Bashayer 4-1, Al Seeb overcome Nizwa 4-1 and Qurayat ‘A’ beat Al Seeb 8-3.

On the second day, Qurayat ‘B’ recorded an 11-0 victory over Oman Club, Nizwa defeated Fanja 4-1, Al Bashayer beat Oman Club 5-2 and Al Seeb secured an 11-0 win against Fanja. Al Amerat then defeated Qurayat ‘B’ 4-0, while Qurayat ‘A’ overcame Nizwa 9-1.


Qurayat’s Saad bin Salim al Fazari claimed the tournament’s top-scorer award after netting 13 goals. Al Amerat goalkeeper Yousuf bin Mohammed al Ghammari was named Best Goalkeeper, while his team-mate Hazaa bin Ibrahim al Fawri received the Best Player award.


At the conclusion of the ceremony, the chief guest presented medals and individual awards before handing the championship trophy to Al Amerat captain amid celebrations by the players and coaching staff.
