AL BURAIMI: Al Zaroub area in the Wilayat of Mahadha is set to host Al Buraimi Governorate’s first integrated investment project dedicated to fruit production, with an investment exceeding RO 171,000, marking a significant step towards harnessing local resources through sustainable agricultural initiatives that support the economy and enhance food security.
Spread across 30 acres, the project has reached more than 80 per cent completion and includes the cultivation of lemons, figs and mangoes.
Preparations are also underway to develop an additional seven acres for production, reflecting the project’s potential and the adoption of modern agricultural techniques.
The diversified fruit production is expected to supply local markets with quality produce while positioning Al Buraimi as an emerging destination for agricultural investment, supported by its strategic location and favourable farming conditions.
Dr Ahmed bin Saif al Ameri, Acting Director-General of the Directorate-General of Agricultural Wealth and Water Resources in Al Buraimi Governorate, encouraged investors and entrepreneurs to explore opportunities in food security-related sectors.
“Through this platform, I would like to invite all investors and entrepreneurs to take advantage of the governorate’s strategic location by investing in food security projects. Investment opportunities are offered periodically across various sectors, including plant production, livestock and water resources,” he said.
Al Ameri noted that the project reflects Al Buraimi’s commitment to promoting sustainable agricultural investments, supporting economic diversification and increasing domestic food production.
As the governorate’s first specialised integrated fruit production project, the development is expected to serve as a model for future agricultural ventures aligned with Oman’s long-term food security objectives.
