LONDON: A project by Omani innovator Aya bint Hamed al Kindi has been selected among the best 13 global projects which will be displayed at the 67th London International Youth Science Forum (LIYSF).
The Sultanate of Oman, under the umbrella of the Research and Innovation Authority (RIA), is taking part in this year’s forum with 10 innovative scientific projects, chosen from among 738 projects spanning the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
The Haris (Arabic for guard) project offers an AI-based technological solution to combat financial crimes, particularly money laundering, by analysing financial data with high accuracy, detecting suspicious patterns, and predicting risks in record time compared to conventional systems.
Aya al Kindi, expressed her pride in this international achievement, emphasising that the selection of her Haris project among the best globally attests to the ability of Omani innovators to provide impactful technological solutions in critical fields such as financial security and fintech.
The achievement embodies the level of scientific excellence of young Omanis and their growing role in providing innovative research solutions to address global challenges, particularly in the areas of environment, energy, and modern technologies in line with the goals of Oman Vision 2040. — ONA
