Muscat: Oman is exploring the potential of advanced drone technology across key sectors, including security, agriculture, infrastructure, oil and gas, and emergency response, as part of efforts to support innovation and economic diversification under Oman Vision 2040.

A high-level workshop on future drone technologies brought together representatives from government entities, including the Royal Oman Police (ROP), Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, along with stakeholders from industrial and energy sectors.

The workshop identified priority applications for unmanned aerial systems (UAS), including border surveillance, precision agriculture, environmental monitoring, infrastructure inspection, pipeline monitoring, mapping, and technology transfer opportunities.

Organised by Fcourier, a Chinese aerospace technology company founded by engineers involved in the development of China’s C919 and ARJ21 commercial aircraft programmes, in partnership with Irfan Trading Company Oman, the event highlighted the growing role of drones in supporting Oman’s technological advancement.
