AL BURAIMI: Al Buraimi Governorate is strengthening its position as one of the Sultanate of Oman's main trade gateways, supported by expanding infrastructure, streamlined customs procedures and growing industrial investment.
Bordering the United Arab Emirates, the governorate has developed into a key logistics and commercial centre linking Omani markets with regional and international trade routes.
Its strategic location, supported by modern roads, land ports and proximity to Gulf ports and airports, has helped attract investment while facilitating the movement of goods across borders.
Customs procedures have also been streamlined through the Bayan electronic clearance system, reducing processing times for commercial shipments and supporting transit and re-export activities.
Saeed bin Abdullah al Balushi, Director-General of Al Buraimi Industrial City, said total investment in the industrial city has exceeded RO 280 million.
The city currently hosts more than 370 industrial, commercial and service projects across an area of 5.5 million square metres, with additional land available for future expansion.
Al Balushi said the governorate was also witnessing strong growth in small and medium-sized enterprises, particularly in logistics, construction and services, supported by a rising number of commercial registrations in the retail, wholesale and supply sectors.
He said government agencies continued to coordinate efforts to improve the investment environment through the One-Stop Shop service and the Invest in Oman platform, making it easier for investors to establish and expand businesses.
The governorate is also implementing infrastructure and development projects across its three wilayats, including new commercial developments, projects in Al Rawdah and improvements to the road network connecting border crossings.
The investments form part of broader efforts to strengthen Al Buraimi's role as a regional trade, logistics and investment hub while supporting the Sultanate of Oman's economic diversification objectives under Oman Vision 2040. — ONA
