MUSCAT: Shaikh Abdulmalik bin Abdullah al Khalili, Chairman of the State Council, received on Sunday a delegation from the High Council of State in the State of Libya, headed by Hassan Ali Habib, First Deputy President of the High Council of State.


The Chairman of the State Council highlighted the development of Omani-Libyan relations and cooperation across various fields.


He highlighted this progress in light of the historical ties and deep-rooted bonds connecting the two countries, emphasising the importance of continuing to build upon these relations in a manner that serves the mutual interests of the two peoples.


The meeting addressed the course of bilateral relations between Oman and Libya, along with ways to enhance and expand their horizons. Furthermore, the two sides reviewed a number of topics and issues of common interest at both the Arab and regional levels.


During the meeting, the Libyan delegation was briefed on several key aspects of the State Council, including its competencies and roles within the Omani legislative system; its designated tasks; the stages of its developmental journey since its establishment and its ongoing contributions to supporting the comprehensive development march in Oman.


The official visit programme for the Libyan delegation includes field visits to a number of institutions, projects, as well as cultural and developmental facilities.


These visits aim to familiarise the delegation with the Omani experience in the economic, cultural,and developmental fields, while also allowing them to explore prominent national initiatives and sustainable development projects. - ONA
