MUSCAT: Oman Music Center, operating under the Directorate-General of Arts at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, has released the 21st issue of the Omani Music Magazine, an electronic publication.
This release continues the Center’s efforts to support artistic and cultural movements in the region.
The magazine, issued periodically, focuses on Omani music specifically and Arab music more broadly. Its sections cover a range of topics, including musical thought, literature, heritage, music history, notable figures, musical compositions, and scientific, philosophical, and social studies related to musicology.
The editorial of this issue is dedicated to the late Omani singer Jassim bin Abdullah al Shaqsi, known as 'Shadi Oman.' He was born on May 17, 1951, in the Wilayat of Suhar.
In the 'Artistic Windows' section, the magazine features an interview with Ahmed Mubarak Ghadir. Born in 1959 in Dhofar Governorate, he is regarded as a pioneer of contemporary Omani song.
Between 1971 and 1979, he performed concerts in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and Yemen. He also took part in the 10th National Day celebrations in 1980, and released several albums from the early 1980s through the early 1990s. - ONA
