Muscat: Astronomical calculations indicate that the first day of the Islamic New Year 1448 AH is expected to fall on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, marking the beginning of the month of Muharram.

Based on these projections, the official holiday for the Islamic New Year in the Sultanate of Oman is expected to be observed on Thursday, June 18, 2026, subject to confirmation by the relevant authorities and the official announcement of the holiday.

The Islamic New Year is one of the official public holidays observed in the Sultanate of Oman. The occasion marks the beginning of the Hijri calendar, which commemorates the migration (Hijrah) of Prophet Mohammed from Makkah to Madinah.
