Tehran: Iran's armed forces have said their missile attacks onIsrael targeted military installations. The Ramat David airbase, located south-east of the city of Haifa, wasattacked with ballistic missiles, according to a statement by Iran'sIslamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) published by the Iraniannews agency Tasnim on Sunday. In the statement, Iran's elite force justified the attacks by citingIsrael's attacks in Lebanon.

The ceasefire in the Iran war at thebeginning of April had been negotiated on the premise that theconflict must be halted on all fronts, the statement said. "But as always, the US and the Zionist regime did not honour theircommitments. They continued both their attacks and crimes in Lebanonand their repeated incursions into Iranian coastal areas," itcontinued. The Revolutionary Guards described Sunday's attacks as a "warning."Should the war break out in full force again, "the responses will bemore comprehensive and will include all US-Zionist targets in theregion," they added. Iran closed its airspace in the west of the country following theescalation, with the civil aviation authority citing new threatassessments, state news agency IRNA reported. The public has beenasked to avoid travelling to airports and to follow media reports.
