Russian philosopher hails Oman’s role in global peace efforts

Russian political philosopher Alexander Dugin has praised Oman’s balanced approach to international affairs and its continued efforts to promote peace and dialogue in global conflicts.

Speaking to Observer on the sidelines of the St Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), held in St Petersburg from June 3 to 6, Dugin said Oman’s diplomatic and humanitarian stance stands as a model of neutrality and mediation.

He noted that Oman’s approach to global issues — avoiding alignment with opposing blocs while actively promoting dialogue — reflects a consistent and principled foreign policy.

“I always have regard for the Sultanate of Oman for its neutral stand on any issue. Oman doesn’t take sides and instead works to resolve issues without favouritism,” Dugin said, adding that Oman’s mediation initiatives and policy of neutrality align with efforts to de-escalate polarising global alignments.

He further observed that Oman’s independent foreign relations, including engagement with countries such as Iran and Russia, reflect a broader commitment to sovereignty and balanced diplomacy.

Dugin also highlighted Oman’s emphasis on cultural preservation and traditional identity, describing it as aligned with his own views on protecting national cultures in an increasingly globalised world.
