MUSCAT: Seeb Club kept up the pressure at the top of the Athletes Preparation Centres Basketball League for the 2025-26 season after a commanding 73-34 victory over Al Bashayer Club, while Sohar Sports Complex pulled off a strong second-half comeback to beat Al Amerat Club 50-46 at the sub hall of Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher.

In the opening match, Seeb imposed themselves from the outset with a dominant display at both ends of the court. Their aggressive defensive pressure, quick transitions and effective zone defence left Al Bashayer struggling to find any rhythm, allowing Seeb to build a massive early advantage.

Seeb took complete control in the first quarter, racing to a 34-2 lead with a relentless attacking performance. Although Al Bashayer improved in the second quarter and looked more settled offensively, Seeb maintained their grip on the contest and carried a comfortable 44-13 lead into half-time.

The third quarter followed a similar pattern, with Seeb once again asserting full control. They added 19 points while restricting Al Bashayer to just 4, stretching the lead to 63-17. Al Bashayer showed greater attacking purpose in the final period and managed 17 points, but the gap was already too wide as Seeb closed out an emphatic 73-34 win.

Abdulrahman al Kamashki led Seeb with 18 points, while Al Farouq al Hassani contributed 15. Saif al Mughairi added 8 points and Omar al Mahrouqi finished with 6. For Al Bashayer, Riyadh al Riyami was the standout performer with 22 points, while Aseel al Aghbari scored 4.

SOHAR FIGHT BACK

The second match delivered far more drama as Sohar Sports Complex came from behind to defeat Al Amerat 50-46 in a lively encounter. Al Amerat were the better side in the first half, making good use of their scoring chances and playing with greater composure to take charge early.

They led the first quarter 16-11 and continued to hold the upper hand in the second, adding 15 points to Sohar’s 12 to move into the break with a 31-23 advantage.

However, the momentum shifted after half-time as Sohar tightened up defensively and began to reduce the deficit. They outscored Al Amerat 10-4 in the third quarter, leaving the latter with only a narrow 35-33 lead heading into the decisive final period.

Sohar then completed the turnaround in the fourth quarter with a strong attacking finish, scoring 17 points against 11 to seal a valuable four-point win.

Abdulrahman al Ruwaishdi starred for Sohar with 17 points, while Faris al Maqbali added 12 and Mohammed al Shezawi scored 10. For Al Amerat, Hamad al Kharousi finished with 16 points, Marwan al Bahlawani added 10, and Said al Wahaibi contributed 8.

The latest round kept Seeb firmly in the race near the top, while Sohar’s comeback win added further intensity to the competition as the league continues to gather momentum.
