Khoula Hospital launched a spinal endoscopy device at its Day Care Surgery Building and signed an agreement to fund cochlear implant operations for hearing-impaired patients at Al Nahdha Hospital, with support from Oman India Fertiliser Company SAOC (OMIFCO), as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen specialised healthcare services and introduce advanced medical technologies for patients.

The spinal endoscopy device is considered one of the modern technologies used in minimally invasive spinal surgeries, helping reduce complications, shorten hospital stays and accelerate patient recovery.

Khoula Hospital also signed an agreement to fund cochlear implant surgeries for hearing-impaired patients at Al Nahdha Hospital at a value of RO 50,000, in support of efforts aimed at enhancing treatment and rehabilitation services and improving patients’ quality of life.

The agreement was signed on behalf of Khoula Hospital by Dr Rashid al Alawi, Director-General of Khoula Hospital, and on behalf of the company by Eng Khalid al Fannah, Sustainability and Corporate Communication Manager at Oman India Fertiliser Company SAOC.

Dr Rashid al Alawi said the launch of the spinal endoscopy device and the cochlear implant funding agreement reflect the hospital’s efforts to advance specialised healthcare services and equip them with modern medical technologies, contributing to the delivery of advanced and safe healthcare services while reducing surgical waiting lists.

For his part, Eng Khalid al Fannah said the company continues supporting the healthcare sector through the provision of modern medical equipment and technologies to healthcare institutions, helping introduce advanced technologies that keep pace with medical developments and enhance the quality of healthcare services provided to patients.

Meanwhile, Dr Sultan al Kalbani, Head of the Spine Unit at Khoula Hospital, said that the new technology will help reduce waiting lists and enable more procedures to be conducted as day surgeries, allowing patients to return to their normal lives more quickly.

On the cochlear implant initiative, Dr Shaikha al Majaini, Senior Consultant at the ENT Department and Head of the Hearing, Balance and Communication Unit at Al Nahdha Hospital, said such initiatives contribute to improving the integration of people with hearing disabilities, particularly children, and help them communicate more effectively within society.
