Muscat: The Royal Oman Police busted a gang of Arab women involved in committing burglary in several homes in Muscat Governorate. They used begging as a cover for their criminal activities.

According to the Royal Oman Police (ROP), in broad daylight, women targeted homes by opening the main door without any vandalism or violent activity.

The  ROP cracked the unique case involving a suspicious criminal method through its surveillance and tracking operations. Jewelry and valuables worth over 20,000 were stolen using a key left outside the door.

They target house owners who casually keep the keys under a rug or a shoe, a simple move, and personal appearances did not t arouse suspicion.

"Unsuspiciously, people many times keep the key for their family members and say, "I'll put the key here. "I'll be back in a few minutes. The suspects just take advantage of this simple situation."

Advise

Leaving spare keys under a doormat, rug, or potted plant is a common practice for allowing family members, neighbors, or cleaners access to a home, but police strongly advise against it.

While it offers convenience, this practice is considered a significant security risk, as these are the first places burglars check.
