Washington: US officials have indicated that US‑Iran negotiations have stalled, with the two sides still far apart on several issues.
US President Donald Trump said the ceasefire with Iran is “on the verge of collapse,” raising the possibility of a resumption of combat operations and military action against Iran.
Days after the United States put forward a proposal to restart negotiations, Iran responded with demands focused on ending the war on all fronts, including Lebanon.
In its response, Iran called for an end to the naval blockade, guarantees against further attacks, the lifting of sanctions and the removal of the US ban on its oil sales.
“Our demand is legitimate: an end to the war, the lifting of the blockade, and the release of Iranian assets frozen in banks due to US pressure,” Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said.
Trump is expected to arrive in China on Wednesday, with Iran likely to be among the topics discussed to end the war in the Middle East and the global energy crisis.
