India names new ambassador to Oman

Muscat:  India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has named Prashant Pise as the next ambassador of the country to the Sultanate of Oman.
He is presently additional secretary in the Ministry, and is expected to take up the assignment shortly.

Pise's previous foreign postings included Cairo (1997-2000), Tripoli (2000-2004). 


He served in Tokyo (2006-2009) as Counsellor (Political), in Mauritius (2009-2013) as Deputy High Commissioner, and as Minister (Information and Media and Indian High Commission’s Spokesperson) in London from 2013-2015.


Pise served as Ambassador of India to Tunisia from January 2016 to June 2019 before returning to Delhi for taking up the responsibility as Deputy Director General in ICCR (Indian Council for Culture Relations).

He presently holds the position of Additional Secretary (Emigration Policy and Welfare) in the Ministry of External Affairs .

He succeeds Godavarthi Venkata Srinivas who was appointed the Indian ambassador to Oman in January 2025.
