MUSCAT: The Annual Table Tennis Team Championship organised by the Indian Social Club (ISC) Oman witnessed enthusiastic participation from members, bringing together players and supporters.
Following a series of closely contested league matches, Bohra Wing, Deccani Wing, Team ISC and ISC-Rockers advanced to the semifinals.
In the semifinals, ISC-Rockers defeated Deccani Wing, while Team ISC overcame Bohra Wing to secure a place in the final.
The grand finale between ISC-Rockers and Team ISC turned out to be an exciting contest. Chintan Gohel and Sathisha Gunduramaiah defeated Gopalkrishnan and James Lorence 2-0, while Suhail Khan and Dr Vinay registered a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Preetam Shete and Urav Gohel. Vaibhav Lingarkar and Abhishek Lingarkar then sealed the decisive win against Hemachandra Ail and Shanawaz KK.
ISC-Rockers eventually clinched the championship title with a 2-1 victory.
The competition featured teams comprising six players each, forming three doubles pairs. Each pair competed against the corresponding pair from the opposing team. The preliminary rounds were held in a round-robin format, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the knockout stage.
Teams representing various wings of the club participated with great enthusiasm, while the Goan Wing and Sindhi Wing delivered commendable performances.
The winning ISC-Rockers consisted of Chintan Gohel, Urav Gohel, Preetam Shete, Sathisha Gunduramaiah, Vaibhav Lingarkar and Abhishek Lingarkar.
The runners-up Team ISC consisted of Suhail Khan, Shanawaz KK, Hemachandra Ail, Dr Vinay, James Lorence and Gopalkrishnan.
ISC Joint Sports Secretary Shameer PTK and under the guidance of ISC Chairman Suhail Khan organised the tournament.
The championship offered members a platform to celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship and teamwork. Large supporters turned up to cheer for their respective teams, creating a lively atmosphere throughout the tournament.
