The Oman School Sports Association (OSSA) discussed its future strategy and development programmes during a Board of Directors meeting held at the Ministry of Education headquarters, chaired by Chairwoman Nadhira bint Ahmed al Harthy, in the presence of board members.
The meeting began with a welcome address by the chairwoman, who emphasised the importance of the upcoming phase in strengthening the role of school sports and expanding student participation. The board then reviewed several key topics related to enhancing the OSSA's operational framework.
During the session, the formation of four supporting committees was approved, namely the Technical Committee, Media and Public Relations Committee, Marketing and Support Committee, and the Care and Rehabilitation Committee. This step aims to improve organisational efficiency and clearly define roles within the federation. The Executive Council was also formed, and the federation’s financial status was reviewed, along with discussions on proposed amendments to the financial regulations.
The board also examined the OSSA's performance during the 2025–2026 academic year, evaluating implemented programmes and activities. In addition, members discussed proposed programmes and competitions for the upcoming 2026–2027 academic year, aligning with the OSSA's vision to further develop school sports in Oman.
The meeting addressed incentive mechanisms for high-performing students, including rewards for individuals and teams achieving top positions in central competitions. Furthermore, discussions covered the association's participation in regional, Arab and international events, reflecting its active role within continental sports bodies.
In another key agenda item, the board reviewed plans to organise a forum for secretaries of school sports committees, aimed at enhancing administrative practices and exchanging expertise. The possibility of participating in sports activities at the scouting camp in Dhofar next August was also discussed.
This meeting reflects the OSSA's ongoing efforts to strengthen its programmes, nurture young talent, and build a solid foundation for the future of sports in Oman.
