More than 290,000 people across Oman have benefited from bp Oman’s social investment programmes since 2014, marking over a decade of initiatives focused on education, skills development, inclusion and sustainable livelihoods across all governorates.
Over the past ten years, bp Oman has delivered more than 180 initiatives supporting children, students, jobseekers, entrepreneurs, educators and people with disabilities. In 2025 alone, 42,547 people benefited from 11 programmes, including 748 people with disabilities, while 92 employment opportunities were created.
Sharah programme created 17 jobs for people with hearing disabilities
bp Oman said its social investment work forms part of a long‑standing partnership with the Sultanate spanning more than a century, from early geological surveys in the 1920s to its current gas operations in Block 61. Operated with OQEP, PTTEP and Petronas, Block 61 contributes around 35% of Oman’s total natural gas demand.
Najla Al Jamali, President of bp Oman, said the company’s role in Oman goes beyond energy production. “We are committed to supporting Oman’s growing energy needs while continuing to invest in its people. For over a decade, our social investment programmes have supported communities by advancing education, enhancing employability and promoting inclusion. This work is delivering tangible impact and creating opportunities we will continue to build on,” she said.
Education remains a core focus. In partnership with the Ministry of Education, bp supported the nationwide digitisation of school curricula for grades 1–12. The Raqmina digital learning platform now supports more than 800,000 students and 55,000 teachers across around 1,200 schools and has recorded more than three million visits since its launch in 2024.
bp Oman has also strengthened inclusion through its Gift to the Nation initiative, launched in 2025 to expand accessible education and training for people with disabilities and expected to benefit more than 44,000 people nationwide.
Beneficiary of the Khazzan SME Development Programme
Beyond education, bp Oman supports entrepreneurship through the Khazzan SME Development Programme, delivered with Sharakah, which has enabled Omani‑owned businesses to grow and demonstrated strong social and economic returns. Through the Sharah programme, bp Oman has also supported people with hearing disabilities through skills training, improving employability and access to work opportunities.
