MAHOUT: Mahout Hospital in Al Wusta Governorate was inaugurated on Wednesday, with a total cost exceeding RO 17 million. This strategic step reflects the accelerating pace of healthcare development in Oman and embodies the government's adopted approach to service decentralisation.

The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of HH Sayyid Harib bin Thuwaini al Said, Adviser at the Diwan of Royal Court.

Mahout Hospital was built on a total land area of 200,000 square metres, with a built-up area of 17,400 square metres. It provides primary and secondary healthcare services to the residents of the Wilayat of Mahout and neighbouring wilayats, serving an estimated population of approximately 20,000 people, thereby ensuring efficient healthcare delivery in line with international standards.

The hospital comprises 54 inpatient beds and features a comprehensive range of departments and modern facilities, including diverse outpatient clinics, an accident and emergency unit, an advanced operating theatre suite, a women's and maternity ward, fully equipped medical laboratories, a radiology department, a pharmacy, inpatient wards, a neonatal care unit for premature infants, and an ancillary service building.

It is also equipped with integrated electrical, mechanical, and air conditioning systems, computer networks, a meeting hall, public amenities, and all supporting services.

HH Sayyid Harib, along with the attendees, toured the hospital's departments, inspected its modern facilities and services, and received a briefing on its role in enhancing healthcare provision. — ONA
