MUSCAT: Aiming at offering a competitive and attractive business environment in the city, Muscat Municipality adopted the "subsequent inspection" methodology in 2026 to enhance self-compliance of establishments and reduce barriers to market entry for business activities.

The initiative to change the methodology for inspections from pre-launch to post-launch will help facilitate procedures and improve the business environment, enabling beneficiaries to start their activities more quickly, while subsequently subjecting them to inspection and monitoring processes to ensure compliance with the approved regulations and requirements.

It will increase the competitiveness of the business environment and make it more attractive to investment, reduce barriers to market entry for companies, and enhance self-compliance among establishments.

The direct benefits for the beneficiary (small and medium enterprises) include a more flexible and attractive business environment, improved beneficiary experience, enhanced customer satisfaction, expedited licensing, reduced time and effort for investors, and enhanced transparency and clarity in requirements.
