Campaign launched to combat flies and mosquitoes in Muscat

Muscat: Muscat Municipality has launched an evening campaign to combat insects and mosquitoes across the wilayats of Muscat Governorate as part of its ongoing efforts to safeguard public health.

The campaign is being carried out daily from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm, alongside regular morning programmes, aiming to curb the spread of mosquitoes and reduce insect density in affected areas.

Authorities said the initiative covers all wilayats in the governorate, with a particular focus on locations that have recorded a rise in insect and mosquito activity. Field teams have been deployed to intensify control measures and ensure effective implementation.

The municipality has identified several key areas under the campaign. In Muscat, locations include Ruwi, Darsait, Wadi Adai, Al Hamriyah and Al Bustan, as well as parts of Muttrah. In Bausher, operations are focused on Al Azaiba North and South, Al Ghubrah North, Al Ansab, Falaj Al Sham and Al Khuwair South, including the industrial area.

In Seeb, targeted areas include Al Mawaleh North and South, Al Hail North and South, Al Khoudh and Al Maabela. In Amerat, the campaign covers Al Amerat old area and the various phases of the wilayat. Meanwhile, in Quriyat, efforts extend to Al Ainiyan, Jebel Al Kaaf, Daghmar, Al Sharqiyah and the mountainous regions of Hayy Dhahir.

In Muttrah, the campaign includes Muttrah, Darsait, Ruwi, Al Hamriyah and Wadi Adai, among other locations.

Muscat Municipality has called on citizens and residents to cooperate with field teams to ensure the success of the campaign, stressing that community participation is vital to achieving its public health objectives.
