Oman U21 national handball team head coach Yahya bin Khamis al Maashari has announced a preliminary squad of 30 players as part of preparations for the 19th Asian Men’s Junior Handball Championship, scheduled to take place in China in July.
The selected players will take part in a three-day intensive training camp from April 23 to 25 at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher. The camp aims to assess the players’ technical and physical levels as the coaching staff begins evaluating the best options for the final squad.
This phase marks an important step in the team’s preparation plan, as the technical staff seeks to identify the most capable players to represent Oman at the continental level. The team is aiming for a strong showing following its participation in the 18th edition of the championship, which was held in Jordan in 2024.
The squad selection reflects a diverse representation of clubs, highlighting the depth of emerging talent across the domestic scene. Seeb lead the list with 11 players, followed by Muscat and Nizwa clubs with seven players each, while Al Oruba Club contributed five players.
The next phase is expected to see the squad gradually reduced, with the final roster to be selected for overseas training camps and friendly matches, as the team aims to reach peak readiness ahead of the Asian championship.
