MUSCAT: Total mobile subscriptions in the Sultanate of Oman reached approximately 8,290,149 by the end of February 2026, marking a 4 per cent increase compared with the same period in 2025, according to figures released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
Postpaid mobile subscriptions grew by 4 per cent to 1,287,418, while prepaid subscriptions recorded a more modest increase of 1 per cent to 5,349,044.
Internet of Things (IoT) subscriptions registered notable expansion, rising by 14 per cent to reach 1,653,687 by the end of February 2026, reflecting increasing adoption of connected technologies across sectors.
Internet services also showed continued growth, with active mobile broadband subscriptions reaching 5,486,364. Fixed broadband subscriptions rose by 2 per cent to 598,912.
Fibre optic subscriptions increased by 8 per cent to 360,164, while fixed 5G subscriptions edged up by 1 per cent to 218,909.
In contrast, fixed 4G subscriptions declined sharply by 63 per cent to 8,192, while DSL subscriptions fell by 28 per cent to 9,785. Satellite subscriptions, however, recorded a significant rise of 195 per cent to 1,125.
Other connection types, including power lines, Ethernet and leased lines, decreased by 8 per cent to 737 compared with the same period in 2025. — ONA
