Oman Air has announced the resumption of flights to Dubai, Bahrain, and Khasab from April 18, while SalamAir will restart flights to Sharjah from April 20.

It may be noted that services some GCC cities were fully affected from Muscat due to the closure of the airport following the start of the US/Israel-Iran War on February 28.

According to Cirium Aviation Analytical Company. " Around 5 million passengers were impacted by flight cancellations between February 28 and March 11, 2026 — though this remains a high-level approximation covering cancellations between the Middle East and destinations outside the region, excluding intra-Middle East flights. The estimate assumes an average load factor of 80% and roughly 242 seats per flight, recognizing that capacity varies significantly by aircraft type and route.

From mid-March onward, a clear recovery trend emerged as cancellation rates declined consistently week by week, falling into the 20-30% range.
