MUSCAT: HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, received in his office at Muaskar Al Murtafaa on Thursday David Lammy, Deputy Prime Minister and Secretary of State for Justice in the United Kingdom (UK).


During the meeting, they reviewed the strong historical relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the United Kingdom. They also discussed existing bilateral cooperation across various fields in a manner that serves the mutual interests of the two countries.


The meeting was attended by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Defence, the Chief of Staff of the Sultan's Armed Forces, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the Sultanate of Oman and the Defence Attaché at the UK Embassy in Muscat.


Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister, also met David Lammy, Deputy Prime Minister and Secretary of State for Justice in the United Kingdom (UK).


The meeting addressed a number of issues pertaining to the longstanding friendship and mutual cooperation between the two countries across various fields. They also exchanged views on the latest regional developments and their repercussions, emphasising the importance of intensifying international efforts to de-escalate tensions, strengthen channels of dialogue, and advance peaceful and diplomatic solutions. This contributes to solidifying the foundations of security and stability at both the regional and international levels.


In addition, both sides stressed the importance of safeguarding the security and safety of maritime navigation and the uninterrupted flow of maritime transport in a manner that supports the stability of global supply chains.


The meeting was attended by Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah al Hinai, Ambassador-at-Large at the Foreign Ministry, and Shaikh Ahmed bin Hashil al Maskari, Head of the GCC and Regional Neighbourhood Department at the Foreign Ministry, as well as a number of officials from both sides. — ONA
