SUR: Public Relations students from the University of Technology and Applied Sciences – Sur officially launched their awareness campaign ‘Kufu’ under the slogan ‘Potentials Deserve to Be Seen’. The campaign seeks to raise awareness about the abilities of people with disabilities and promote their integration into society and the workplace.
Dr Rashid bin Nasser al Matani, Assistant Vice-Chancellor of UTAS–Sur, revealed the logo that illustrates the principle of integration, with a circular puzzle that symbolises the social fabric, indicating cooperation and unity among people. It shows individuals with all forms of disabilities, including those who use wheelchairs and walking aids, to highlight the diverse community. The handshake symbolises equality and collaboration, whilst the computer symbolises the importance of technology in enabling people with disabilities to achieve professional success.
Dr Rashid stated, “Campaigns such as Kufu are evidence of young people’s dedication to creating a society that recognises the skills of each person. Helping individuals with disabilities is not only a duty but also an investment in our community.”
Jeanan al Alawi, an organising member of the campaign, expressed her delight at taking part and highlighted its message. She stated, “Through the Kufu campaign, we wish to send a clear message that people with disabilities are capable and deserve equal opportunities.”
