Muscat: The Oman Meteorology Office said thunderstorms, dust storms and active winds are likely to affect several governorates.

According to the latest update, thunderstorms are expected to impact parts of al Buraimi, al Dakhiliyah, al Dhahirah, South al Batinah, North Al Batinah, North al Sharqiyah and Muscat governorates.

The alert, classified as limited in intensity, indicates chances of rainfall accompanied by cloud activity.

The Met Office warned of dust storms over desert areas of al Buraimi, al Dhahirah, a Dakhiliyah, North al Sharqiyah and al Wusta governorates.

The alert carries a moderate impact level, with reduced visibility expected in open and desert areas.

Meanwhile, active wind is predicted to affect  al Jazer, Duqm, Shalim and the Hallaniyat Islands.

According to the weather forecast, wind speeds are expected to pick up to moderate levels, potentially causing blowing dust and rough sea conditions in exposed coastal areas.

The Oman Met has urged residents and road users to exercise caution, particularly in areas prone to reduced visibility and sudden weather changes, and to follow official updates as conditions develop.
