Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America, commending the efforts made by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and all parties that contributed to de-escalating the conflict.

In a statement, the Oman's Foreign Ministry stressed the importance of intensifying diplomatic efforts in the coming to address the root causes of the crisis, paving the way for a comprehensive and lasting cessation of hostilities and ensuring long-term stability across the region.

Oman reaffirmed its consistent position advocating dialogue, restraint and peaceful resolution of disputes, underscoring the need to prioritise political solutions over military escalation.

The ceasefire follows weeks of heightened tensions and military exchanges that raised concerns over regional security and the stability of global energy markets. Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement, alongside efforts by other international stakeholders, played a key role in facilitating communication channels between the two sides and advancing de-escalation efforts.

The Sultanate reiterated its call for all parties to build on the current truce and work collectively towards a sustainable resolution that would prevent further escalation and contribute to security and prosperity in the wider region.
