Oman’s national beach handball team is gearing up for a competitive campaign at the sixth Asian Beach Games, set to take place in Sanya, Hainan, China, from April 21 to 30, featuring some of the continent’s top national teams.
Drawn into Group B, Oman will face a tough lineup that includes Pakistan, Jordan, Maldives, Bangladesh, Thailand, Qatar and Mongolia, in what is widely considered one of the most balanced and competitive groups in the tournament.
Oman will begin their campaign on April 21 with a match against Mongolia, followed later the same day by a clash with Qatar. The team will then continue its group stage schedule with matches against Thailand, Jordan, Maldives, Bangladesh and Pakistan in a round-robin format, with top teams advancing to the knockout stages.
As part of its preparations, the Omani squad will hold a pre-tournament training camp in China, where it will play a series of friendly matches aimed at boosting match fitness, refining tactical approaches, and assessing player readiness ahead of the competition. The delegation is scheduled to depart on April 14, allowing sufficient time for acclimatisation and final preparations.
Beach handball is one of the leading disciplines at the Asian Beach Games, attracting strong participation from across the continent. The competition format includes a preliminary round followed by knockout stages, culminating in the semifinals and finals to determine the champions.
Oman will be aiming to deliver a strong performance and build on their growing reputation in beach handball, with ambitions of advancing to the latter stages and competing for top honours, supported by thorough preparations and an experienced squad.
