SALALAH: HH Sayyid Marwan bin Turki al Said, Governor of Dhofar, held a meeting with representatives of public and private sector organizations to assess preparedness for the 2026 Dhofar Khareef season.

The meeting, part of early preparations for the annual tourist season, discussed various aspects related to enhancing tourism services and facilities and raising the level of preparedness in vital sectors, including accommodation, transportation, catering, health, security, and municipal services.

The meeting discussed plans for developing natural and cultural tourist sites and ways to ensure the availability of high-quality essential goods.

The Governor of Dhofar stressed the importance of enhancing integration and cooperation between public and private sector organizations to provide a comprehensive tourism experience that reflects the unique natural features of the Dhofar Governorate and aligns with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 in the field of sustainable tourism development. He also stressed the importance of adhering to public health and safety standards and developing high-quality events to enrich visitor experience.

The representatives of the relevant authorities presented reports on their readiness, including road and public facility maintenance, plans to raise the capacity of hotels, resorts, and camps and the organization of temporary commercial activities during the season.

The Dhofar Khareef season is one of the most prominent tourist seasons in the Sultanate of Oman, attracting thousands of visitors annually thanks to its mild climate and unique misty landscape. The annual event also contributes to boosting economic and tourism activities in the governorate.

Participants expressed their optimism for the success of the 2026 season, given the ongoing efforts to develop infrastructure and provide high-quality services, which will enhance Dhofar’s position as a global tourist destination.
