MUSCAT: The subcommittee affiliated to the Economic and Financial Committee of the State Council, tasked with studying the ‘Framework for Developing the Government Performance Management System’, held a meeting on Monday.


The subcommittee was chaired by Mohammed bin Hassan al Shehhi, Head of the Subcommittee and the meeting was attended by Dr Dhafer bin Awad al Shanfari, Head of the Economic and Financial Committee and members of the subcommittee.


During the meeting, the subcommittee continued discussing the study, which aims to support the realisation of Oman Vision 2040, develop a methodology for government planning, establish an integrated institutional framework for performance management, enhance spending efficiency and boost productivity, achieve sustainability and improve the quality of services.


The subcommittee reviewed the views and observations presented by its members regarding the study, which supports the state’s efforts to develop performance management through a modern legislative and regulatory framework based on efficiency, transparency, and accountability, and promotes a culture of institutional excellence.


Meanwhile, the subcommittee of the State Council’s Technology and Innovation Committee, discussed a study titled ‘Harnessing Technology in Sustainable Water Management in the Sultanate of Oman, at its meeting held on Monday under the chairmanship of Zaki bin Hilal al Busaidy, Head of the Subcommittee.


The subcommittee discussed the study which explores ways to manage water scarcity in the Sultanate of Oman in a balanced and sustainable manner, given its connection to food security, public health, and economic and social stability.


It also addressed the pressures facing water resources in the Sultanate of Oman as a result of population and economic growth, which necessitates strengthening efforts to conserve groundwater and improve its utilisation.
