MUSCAT: The Joint Committee of the State Council and Shura Council held a joint meeting on Monday to discuss items of dispute between the two councils regarding the "Draft Amendment to Some Provisions of the Personal Data Protection Law" and the "Draft Amendment to Some Provisions of the Penal Code," both referred by the Council of Ministers.

The "Draft Amendment to Some Provisions of the Personal Data Protection Law" referred by the Council of Ministers included modifications to 13 articles, of which six articles were subjects of dispute between the two councils. The committee concluded by reaching a consensus on all articles of disagreement between the two chambers and will submit its report for discussion during a joint session of the State Council and the Shura Council. - ONA
