MUSCAT: Dr Hamad bin Said al Maamari, Wali of Muttrah, chaired the first meeting of the wilayat’s Parents’ Council, underscoring the importance of coordinated efforts to support the education sector and enhance student achievement.

The meeting reviewed the executive regulations governing Parents’ Councils, outlining the framework that defines their roles and responsibilities. Discussions focused on activating the council’s mandate in a structured manner that contributes to improving both educational outcomes and community engagement.

Members examined the scope of work of the council’s three main committees, which form the backbone of its operations. The Educational Committee will focus on monitoring students’ academic performance, encouraging greater parental involvement, and supporting initiatives that improve school environments and learning outcomes.

Meanwhile, the Social Committee will work to strengthen ties between the council and the wider community, organising events and initiatives that benefit students and their families while promoting positive social values.

The Financial Committee, on the other hand, will oversee donations and expenditures, ensuring transparency and accountability in managing the council’s resources, thereby supporting the sustainability of its activities and programmes.

During the meeting, the three committees were officially formed from among the council members.

A date for the next meeting was also set to ensure continuity, follow-up on action plans, and the effective implementation of proposed initiatives.

This step comes as part of broader efforts to reinforce the partnership between home and school, a key pillar in advancing the quality of education and fostering a more responsive and inclusive learning environment across the wilayat.
