LIWA: The Liwa Center for the Rehabilitation of Children with Disabilities organised a programme to mark World Autism Awareness Day, observed annually on April 2.

The event focused on raising awareness, promoting acceptance, and supporting the integration of individuals with autism into society.

The programme featured an awareness lecture for the local community, covering the concept of autism, its causes, treatment methods, and early intervention strategies.

The lecture was delivered by Rosa bint Fayez al Saleh, an autism specialist at the Al Wafa Center for the Rehabilitation of People with Disabilities in Liwa, with participation from Nibr Health Center and Al Mumina Secondary School for Girls.

It aimed to dispel misconceptions and provide scientific and practical guidance to parents, teachers, and healthcare workers.

The day also included an interactive programme for children designed to enhance social and motor skills. Activities ranged from educational games and art workshops to musical sessions, creating a supportive and encouraging environment for children and their families. — ONA
