Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman has condemned the Israeli Knesset’s enactment of the so-called “Death Penalty for Prisoners Law,” denouncing it as a breach of international humanitarian law, particularly the provisions safeguarding prisoners and detainees.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Foreign Ministry, the Sultanate of Oman reaffirms its categorical rejection of any measures that seek to sanction attacks on the lives of Palestinian prisoners or erode their fundamental human rights. It urges the international community to uphold international legal standards, ensure the protection of prisoners and detainees and avert escalation in the interest of regional and global peace and stability.
