BAHLA: A two-day national training workshop to promote media literacy concepts kicked off in the Wilayat of Bahla, Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, under the theme of 'Empowering Minds in the Age of Artificial Intelligence (AI)'.

The workshop is organised by the Ministry of Education in cooperation with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO). It is attended by a large segment of teachers, students and representatives of civil society institutions.

Held under the auspices of Shaikh Said bin Ali al Nuaimi, Wali of Bahla, the workshop helps the community to keep pace with the accelerating digital transformation. It seeks to enhance the responsible use of information and modern technologies.

The workshop also aims to promote international concepts of media and information literacy, empower participants with skills needed to verify information and combat misinformation, raise awareness about the ethical dimensions of using digital technologies, introduce relevant legislation and support entrepreneurship trends in the digital space.

The programme of the first day of the workshop focuses on efforts made by the Ministry of Information to promote media literacy and security media as a model in supporting information awareness. In addition, it underlines the role of religious discourse as a means of combating misinformation.

The programme of the second day deals with the ethics of using AI applications, mechanisms for building entrepreneurial projects and information verification skills.
