The Royal Oman Police (ROP) personnel have once again lived up to their reputation as guardians of the nation, showcasing exemplary dedication and bravery as they battled the heavy rains that lashed the country.
On its social media account, ROP stated, "We face challenges to be close to you and to keep the roads safe. You are our partners in achieving safety, through your awareness and commitment".
From clearing traffic on flooded roads to rescuing stranded motorists, the police force's tireless efforts have left citizens in awe. "We were once stuck in our car, but the ROP team arrived promptly and guided us to safety", said Mohammed al Balushi, a grateful citizen. "Their professionalism and kindness in the face of adversity were truly inspiring".
Saada al Nuumani, echoing similar sentiments, said, "Their swift response has been ensuring our families and communities are shielded from any weather impact. We're forever grateful for their selfless service. But we also need to play our part by following their instructions".
The ROP's prompt action during rains has resulted in no major incidents being reported, a testament to their preparedness and commitment to public safety.
During recent rains, the police force's heroics have sparked an outpouring of praise, with many hailing them as heroes and expressing gratitude for their bravery and dedication.
As the country continues to recover from adverse climatic conditions, the ROP remains vigilant, ensuring the safety and security of all.
Meanwhile on Friday, police aviation conducted a rescue operation for a citizen after his vehicle was swept away in Wadi Matam in the Dhofar Governorate, successfully transferring him to a safe area in good health. The ROP Air Wing also conducted the rescue and transfer of two citizens, including a child and an elderly man, from Sinaw to Ibra Reference Hospital to receive the necessary medical care.
To keep the public safe, ROP has reiterated its warning to motorists against attempting to cross flooded wadis, stressing that such actions pose serious risks to lives and property. It has also emphasised the importance of adhering to safety instructions issued by relevant authorities to ensure public safety across the Sultanate of Oman.
On Friday, the ROP referred two Omani citizens to the competent judicial authorities after they attempted to cross a wadi in Bidiyah, resulting in their vehicles being swept away by strong currents. 'The incident put not only their lives at risk but also endangered the safety of rescue teams involved in the operation. The individuals have been referred for legal proceedings in accordance with applicable laws', ROP stated, reiterating its warning to motorists against attempting to cross flooded wadis, stressing that such actions pose serious risks to lives and property.
