Muscat: Following a series of weather alerts issued by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Oman’s national transport operator, Mwasalat, has announced the temporary suspension of several key "City" and "Intercity" bus services. The precautionary measure is aimed at ensuring the safety of passengers and providing a secure transport environment during the prevailing unstable weather conditions affecting several governorates. The suspension, effective immediately, impacts several high-traffic city routes within the capital, including:

  • Route 6: Al Khoud – Sultan Qaboos University – Al Khoud
  • Route 7: Al Mabelah – Al Khoud – Burj Al Sahwa
  • Route 9: Al Athaiba – Al Ansab – Misfah Industrial Area
  • Route 10: Al Mabelah – Seeb Souq – Burj Al Sahwa

For Thursday, March 26, intercity operations between Muscat and several key areas have also been put on hold, including services to Duqm (Route 52), Ibri and Buraimi (Route 53), and the Haima-Duqm line (Route 103).

In a statement, Mwasalat emphasised that the continuation of all other city and intercity services remains under constant evaluation in close coordination with the relevant authorities. While bus services face disruptions, ferry operations on the Shannah – Masirah route will continue to operate as scheduled.
