Muscat: UAE club Al Ain have officially signed Oman national volleyball player and Seeb Club setter Adam al Jalboubi, in a new professional step that highlights his steady rise as one of the Sultanate’s leading players in the setter position.

The move comes at an important time for Al Ain, who recently appointed Omani coach Jamal al Maamari, the former head coach of Seeb Club. The presence of both Al Jalboubi and Al Maamari at the Emirati side reflects growing confidence in Omani talent, both on the court and at technical level, while also strengthening Oman’s representation at one of the Gulf region’s well-known clubs.

Al Jalboubi has been among the standout names in Omani volleyball in recent seasons, establishing himself as one of the top setters through his intelligent reading of the game, accurate distribution and quick decision-making. His ability to organise attacking play and make the best use of his team-mates’ strengths has made him a key figure for both Seeb and the Oman national team.

His volleyball journey began with Bidiyah Club, where he took his first steps in the sport, before moving to Seeb in what proved to be a major turning point in his career. At Seeb, he continued to develop and played an important role in the team’s domestic achievements, becoming part of a squad that has enjoyed strong success in local competitions over recent years.

His impact was also recognised on an individual level when he won the Best Setter award in the First Division Volleyball League, an achievement that underlined his technical quality and his influence in directing the rhythm of his side’s attacking game, especially in decisive matches.

For Al Jalboubi, the move to Al Ain represents an opportunity to continue improving his technical level and gain valuable experience in a different competitive environment. It also comes with added significance given the UAE club’s ambitions in domestic and external competitions, alongside the quality within its squad.

NEW CHAPTER

Speaking about the transfer, Al Jalboubi said he was delighted to begin a new chapter in his career and viewed overseas professionalism as an important milestone.

“I am very happy with this opportunity to play for a big club such as Al Ain, and I see it as a new challenge for me. Praise be to Allah for what I have achieved, and this came through the support of my family, as well as the technical and administrative staff at the clubs I have represented,” he said.

He added that the experience at Al Ain would help him grow further through greater exposure and stronger competition, while stressing that he is fully aware of the responsibility of representing the Omani player abroad.

Al Jalboubi also pointed to the importance of working again with coach Jamal al Maamari, noting that his presence would help him adapt quickly and deliver the required level as he targets a successful professional journey with both club and country.
