MUSCAT: The ad hoc committee tasked with studying the proposal on ‘Demographic Structure and its Impact on the Future of Development in the Sultanate of Oman’, held a meeting on Tuesday.


The meeting was chaired by Dr Aisha bint Hamad al Darmaki, Head of the Committee, and attended by the committee members.


The committee discussed the findings of the specialised working groups in the education, training, health and the community sectors.


It also reviewed international experiences and how to benefit from international expertise in addressing imbalances in the demographic structure and comparing government policies in various countries related to migration and the labour market.


The committee discussed ways to identify best global practices that are applicable in the Sultanate of Oman with the aim of striking a balance between population growth and economic and social development.
