Muscat: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) of India has announced the postponement of Class XII board examinations in several Middle Eastern countries, including the Sultanate of Oman.

In a circular issued on Monday, CBSE stated that schools affiliated with the board in Oman, Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates will see the postponement of the examinations.

The circular is the fifth issued by the board and follows an earlier communication dated March 7, 2026.

Dr Sanyam Bhardwaj, Controller of Examinations at CBSE, said that the decision was taken after reviewing the current situation in parts of the Middle East and considering the mental stress faced by students amid prevailing uncertainties.

“After a critical review of the current situation in parts of the Middle East (Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE), the Board has decided to postpone the examinations scheduled from March 12, 2026 (Thursday) to March 16, 2026 (Monday). The new dates will be announced later,” he said.

The board will review the situation again on March 14, 2026, and take appropriate decisions regarding the remaining examinations scheduled from March 16 onwards.

Students have been advised to stay in contact with their schools for further updates and follow official announcements issued by the board.
