MUSCAT: Children and families gathered in large numbers in Muscat to celebrate Qaranqasho, the traditional mid-Ramadhan night marked by joy, sweets and festive activities for young ones.

The celebration was organised by the Office of the Wali of Muscat in cooperation with the Mohammed Al Barwani Foundation, creating a lively Ramadhan atmosphere filled with laughter and excitement.

The event featured a range of entertainment and educational activities, including competitions, interactive games and engaging performances aimed at bringing happiness to children. Gifts and sweets were also distributed, adding to the festive spirit that characterises Qaranqasho celebrations across the region.

The initiative forms part of the community efforts undertaken by the Mohammed Al Barwani Foundation to strengthen social solidarity and revive cherished Ramadhan traditions while creating joyful experiences for children and families during the holy month.

Iman bint Mohammed al Barwani, Chief Executive Officer of the Mohammed Al Barwani Foundation, said that such initiatives reflect the foundation’s commitment to supporting social activities that promote community cohesion, particularly during religious occasions such as Ramadhan. She added that bringing happiness to children is one of the foundation’s key goals, achieved through partnerships with community groups and initiatives.

Al Barwani also noted that cooperation with the Wali office highlights the importance of joint efforts between institutions and volunteer teams in serving the community. She expressed hope that such initiatives will continue in the future, further strengthening humanitarian and social values.
