Koorathon tournament reaches quarterfinal stage

Muscat: The group stage of the inaugural “Koorathon” Football Tournament for Higher Education Institutions, organised by the Oman Logistics Academy, concluded with eight teams securing their places in the quarterfinals after competitive matches involving ten university and college teams from across the Sultanate of Oman.

The University of Nizwa topped Group One with six points, followed by Muscat College, while Muscat University finished first in Group Two ahead of Sultan Qaboos University, with Oman Tourism College progressing as one of the best third-placed teams.

In Group Three, the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (B) claimed first place on goal difference ahead of the International College of Engineering and Management, with Oman Logistics Academy (A) also advancing.

The quarterfinal matches will begin on Sunday, featuring Oman Tourism College against the University of Nizwa and Oman Logistics Academy (A) facing Muscat University, while the remaining matches will be played on Monday.

The semifinals are scheduled for March 11, with the final set to take place on March 15 to crown the first champion of the tournament.
