At least 105 civilian facilities in Iran have been heavily damaged since Israeli and US strikes began six days ago, the Iranian Red Crescent said on Thursday.

In total, there have been 1,332 attacks at 636 locations so far, the aid group said. The figures could not be independently verified.

Iranian media have reported that residential areas of several cities, including parts of Tehran, have been hit.

The United States and Israel say their attacks are aimed at ensuring that Iran never acquires nuclear weapons. They also seek to destroy Iran's arsenal of ballistic missiles and related military infrastructure.

Both countries say the strikes have targeted Iranian military infrastructure, including command centres, security agencies andother facilities.

Israel has also hit sites linked to Iran's hard-line clerical leadership.
