The area around the US embassy in Qatar has been evacuated, authorities said on Thursday.
Residents of nearby buildings were temporarily moved to safety as a precaution, Qatar's Interior Ministry said in a statement. Suitable accommodation had been provided for them, the ministry added.
The authorities initially did not provide further details on thereasons for the evacuation.
Since the start of the war on Saturday, Iranian forces have repeatedly fired missiles and drones at Qatar.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the attacks were aimedonly at "US interests in Qatar." According to Qatari authorities,however, the projectiles also struck civilian and residential areaswithin the country.
