His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik on Tuesday received two telephone calls from President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of the Republic of India.
The telephonic conversations dealt with the recent developments regarding the military escalation witnessed in the region, along with its concerning repercussions on the security and stability of nations and the safety of their peoples.
The leaders emphasised the importance of concerted international efforts to achieve an immediate cessation of escalating tensions and a return to the paths of dialogue and diplomacy, in a manner that contributes to containing the crisis and enhancing regional and international peace.
Meanwhile, a security source has reported the downing of two drones in the airspace of Dhofar Governorate, while a third drone fell in the vicinity of Salalah Port, with no human casualties or material damage recorded.
The Sultanate of Oman affirms its denunciation and condemnation of these targeting operations and emphasises that it will take all necessary measures to maintain the security of the country.
A security source reported that fuel tanks at the Duqm commercial port were targeted by a number of drones, one of which hit a fuel tank. The resulting damage was brought under control without any human casualties being recorded. The Sultanate of Oman affirms its condemnation of the attack and that it is taking all necessary measures to deal with this incident.
The Sultanate of Oman expressed its sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the State of Kuwait, its government and people, on the martyrdom of two members of the Kuwaiti Army while performing their national duties.
In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday, the Sultanate of Oman affirmed its solidarity with the State of Kuwait in this painful loss and expressed its support for all measures the State of Kuwait undertakes to safeguard its sovereignty and preserve its security and stability.
The ministry also extended its sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the two martyrs, praying to the Almighty Allah to grant them mercy, to bestow a speedy recovery upon the injured, and to protect the State of Kuwait and its people from all harm. - ONA
