MUSCAT: As part of its 2026 plans, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth (MoCSY) is implementing a package of quality projects and programmes to regulate and enhance the participation of young people in the national development process. The ministry outlined the objectives of two main youth projects that it is undertaking in 2026: A youth volunteering project codenamed “Support Oman” (Isnad Oman) and a “Youth Initiatives” project. The projects are in pursuance of the ministry’s achievements made in 2025.

The 2026 “Support Oman” youth volunteering project seeks to regulate young people’s volunteering action and cultivate specialised youth leaders, said Mohammed bin Marhoon al Maktoumi, Director of the Youth Initiatives Department at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth. As part of the project, four action camps will be held in different governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, said Al Maktoumi, noting that the project envisages training 500 young volunteers through an emergency management intervention plan, in coordination with the Emergency Management Centre.

On the other hand, the ministry’s “Youth Initiatives” project will help augment young people’s participation in community activities. In 2025, the ministry supported 61 youth initiatives that benefited more than 14,000 people. — ONA
