AL JAZIR: Construction and field work for the Ras Suqra waterfront project in the Al Lakbi district of Al Jazir has been completed. Implemented by Al Wusta Municipality over an area of approximately 20,000 square metres, the project is valued at RO 841,000 and represents a significant development and tourism initiative in the governorate.
Eng Marwan bin Abdullah al Farsi, Assistant Director-General of Al Wusta Municipality, told ONA that the project follows an integrated vision combining aesthetics, service and environmental sustainability, in line with Al Wusta’s development goals.
The project features a miniature sea walkway with seating areas, a dedicated desalination plant, four shaded seating zones, green spaces, and a children’s play area designed to meet safety standards. Facilities also include two separate prayer rooms for men and women, as well as a rainwater drainage network to enhance infrastructure sustainability.
Extensive afforestation work along the waterfront adds environmental and aesthetic value, creating an attractive space for picnics, recreation and community gatherings.
The Ras Suqra project is expected to boost domestic recreational tourism, support social activities for residents and visitors, and enhance local investment opportunities in coastal services.
It is part of Al Wusta Municipality’s efforts to develop public facilities and create an integrated urban environment that aligns with the governorate’s sustainable development objectives. — ONA
