MUSCAT: The Deccani Wing of the Indian Social Club Oman hosted its annual Hyderabadi Community Iftar at the iconic Ruwi Clock Tower, drawing more than 5,500 attendees — one of the largest gatherings in its history.

The event brought together community leaders, families, elders, youth and volunteers, reflecting the enduring spirit of brotherhood and compassion that defines the holy month.

For over two decades, the annual Iftar has symbolised togetherness within the Hyderabadi community in Oman. This year’s gathering further strengthened that legacy, with meticulous planning and coordinated volunteer efforts ensuring a smooth and spiritually uplifting experience for all.

As the Maghrib call to prayer resonated across the historic landmark, thousands broke their fast together before offering congregational prayers. Iftar meals were distributed efficiently by a dedicated team of volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes.

Suhail Khan, a senior community leader, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming turnout. “Witnessing more than 5,500 people gather in unity and brotherhood is truly inspiring. This Iftar reflects the generosity and collective spirit of our community,” he said.

Volunteers described the experience as deeply fulfilling. “Serving thousands of fasting people and seeing their smiles brings immense spiritual satisfaction,” said Dawood Khan, while Mohsin Ali highlighted the teamwork that made the event possible.

Community members noted that the annual Iftar has become a cherished tradition that strengthens relationships and preserves cultural and spiritual values. Youth volunteers also played an active role, describing the event as both inspiring and motivating.

The Deccani Wing extended appreciation to sponsors, donors and volunteers whose support ensured the successful execution of one of Oman’s largest community Iftars.

The evening concluded with prayers for peace, unity and prosperity, reaffirming the organisation’s continued commitment to community service and harmony during the holy month.
